Wellness Aide

Our Wellness Aide performs restorative aid responsibilities and is responsible for encouraging residents to perform or participate in daily Activities of Daily Living (ADL) functions. Responsibilities include demonstrating to residents and staff, as necessary, the procedures involved in the restorative process. Responsibilities also include recommending modifications and changes in the residents' restorative care as needed, instructing and supervising residents during restorative sessions, informing residents of procedures involved in restorative care, preparing necessary equipment, reassuring residents before and during restorative treatment, assuring that all restorative care notes are informative and descriptive of the restorative sessions provided and the residents' response to care; also responsible for ambulating residents and providing range of motion (ROM) in accordance with residents' restorative plan of care, conducting strength and conditioning exercise programming, and providing weight bearing therapy in accordance with residents' plan of care. Our Wellness Aide will also be responsible for personal care functions including but not limited to assisting residents with hair care (i.e. combing, brushing, shampooing), nail care (i.e. cleaning finger/toenails), changing of gowns, linens, etc. when needed; assisting with toileting, activity preparation, and transportation to appointments.

Position Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Current CNA, PCA, or HHA certification (required)
  • Understand principles and purpose of restorative program and promote resident function, motivation, and independence.
  • Know and demonstrate range of motion techniques (proper body mechanics) and gait training.
  • Able to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant.
  • Able to document resident's progress accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Able to relate to work with the Hearth community.
  • Able to deal tactfully with residents, family members, visitors, other staff, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
  • Able and willing to work harmoniously with professional and non-professional personnel.
  • Patience, tact, cheerful disposition and enthusiasm as well as willingness to handle difficult residents.
  • Willing to seek out new methods and principles and incorporate them into existing nursing practices.
  • Able to relate information concerning a resident's condition.
  • Attend and participate in scheduled training and educational classes.
  • Regular, dependable and reliable attendance.
  • Must be a self-starter.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft suite applications.
  • Be available to work on weekends or holidays when necessary.
  • Must have flexibility and good communication (Written & Verbal) skills.
